Agility show. Grantham..

So me  and Tommy were at an agility show at the weekend. He was naughty and didn't weave at all in any of the classes. He skipped the first pole or skipped the second pole. He's never done this before but we're going to work on weaves at training this week.

Grooming!!

So, on thursday (24th) I attended a one day grooming course at look north grooming salon. 

It started at 9:00 in the morning by brushing out all of Tommy's
 leg knots so they didn't tighten in the bath.

Next Tommy had to have a bath.
 He hates bathes anyway and had to be shampooed twice.

First he had to be towelled dry

Then dried with the dryer.

After he was dry I had to comb his legs to completely ensure they were knot free.

I had to shave in between his toes which I have done before at YKC camp 2013.

Then he needed his feet scissoring of overhanging hair.

Cutting knots out of his toesies as it
 would have been too painful to brush or comb them.

I had to clip his body with the clippers
 following some lines that she showed me.

He was very relaxed despite the
 noise of the clippers.

I had to "blend" the clipper lines on from where I
 stopped shaving with thinning scissors.

The last thing I did was to trim his claws with
 the guillotine nail clippers. 

But the lady who was showing me what to do then plucked his ears with forceps, he had to have his muzzle on to aid grip and as he is a classic schnauzer hating having his ears plucked. I had to hold his legs down and together to stop him trying to stop her. 

Anyway I had lots of fun, learnt lots of useful grooming tips and pointers and I have a much smarter looking and soft boy.

Last day of the holidays.

So on the last day mum, me and our friend went to beacon hill had a picnic and built a den.

Perseid Meteors!

We stayed up till quarter past midnight last night to watch the meteors and, when Tommy wasn't trying to chase the neighbour cats, it was successful. We saw five meteors before the cloud came in and we had to retreat to the warmth of the house. I think Tommy was very confused but enjoyed the attention as he got to lie on my stomach in my sleeping bag in the garden, partly so I had control over him and partly because he was warming me up.

Late walk

Tommy and I went for a walk around 8:30, it wasn't dark and luckily I had my phone so could take some pictures despite it only being a street walk.

                   

YKC summer camp

Me and Alison.

Well camp was..... AWESOME!!!! Met up with Alison and Alex and met Katie with Scooby, who, although he is huge he is very cute. Me and Tommy took our silver GCDS test and passed. Then I took the hands on assessment and passed with full marks(50/50). We were in the advanced agility and obedience so were doing things to work on over the year. In grooming I learnt how to give my schnauzer a proper groom and found that the current groomer we go to isn't very good so I'm hoping to do a grooming course and learn how to groom all of him perfectly. In my one heelwork to music session I taught Tommy how to jump through a leg hoop. In handling we did well, the trainer said she couldn't grumble with how I handled him and in flyball hew did a

 proper run very quickly.
Oh, and we met Ashleigh and pudsey!

Tommy has a new bandanna that I made. One side has a bone on it and the other has a 'T' on it. Cute huh!

July shelford manor show.

At the show this weekend wet got one clear round out of eight runs but two where we got eliminated were my fault as I told him top go the wrong way. any way here are this weekends earnings.

Tommy's agility session!

Today Tommy and I had our weekly agility training and he ran very well. He's started to speed up on his weaves and keep his contacts at speed. We're practicing for the competition this weekend in Nottingham the classes may be small but we have 4 class over the weekend that are 1-7 courses. The rest are 1-3 or 1-4 so they aren't too bad. I'll put a link on here soon to our photobucket stories, there's one of Tommy and one of my flower pictures so you can take your pick. Anyway I shall post again after the competition, hopefully with some photos and photos of winnings. :-P

Thetford Dog Vegas June 2013

This weekend we went to the Thetford Dog Vegas 2013 Agility show. It was our first show at Grade 3. We won a graded 3-5 agility with 2.246 time faults. We also won a 1-3 graded jumping clear. We had another clear run that we weren't fast enough to get a place in.

Long Overdue Agility show post

This has taken so long due to my friend taking a while to upload her videos as she rarely had 2 hours spare to upload her videos.

Picnic

Yesterday me, mum and Tommy went to shady lane, as we do every friday, but we had a picnic. We met 3 scotties(one called max, one called molly and one unknown), a few Labradors, another mini and a king Charles/cavalier called jasper. The food was tasty too, we let Tommy have some too.

Necklace

I went on a little holiday with my dad in half-term, after the agility show, and he makes silver jewellery. He made me a ring last time he came over from Canada, and a Tommy this time. It's sooo cute and definitely Tommy as they both (Tommy and necklace) have very curly tails which is odd because no other schnauzers we know do!

Agility show May 2013 basic update!

On Saturday me and Tommy started competing at the Dog Vegas May 2013 show, today, we came home with 13 firsts out of 15 courses run (one of which we ran clear but lost the time so re-ran and got Eed second time round ) we have also moved up to grade three.
I will post picture and videos of me and my friend running and of our prizes on Sunday when I get home, until then Goodbye.

BMF

On saturday me, my Brother and my Mum (we met my Cousin and Uncle) went to BMF, we took Tommy with us and saw 3 other mini schnauzers, a pair of St. Bernards, a few staffies, a few terriers, 1 Labrador and 2 golden retrievers on a stand.
